Bloom Social Therapy Groups

Our social groups run in school term blocks and usually follow through during school holidays, designed for adults, children and young people of all ages. Each group runs for up to three hours in small, intentionally curated settings — with a maximum of five participants and a minimum 2:1 therapist-to-child ratio to ensure safe, attuned, and individualised support.

Groups are developed and led by experienced clinicians who tailor activities to each person's developmental stage, interests, and support needs. We prioritise generalisation — meaning we don’t just teach skills in the therapy clinic, but in ways your child can use across home, school, and community life.

Our Curriculum: Building Boss Skills

All of our groups are grounded in our Boss Skills Curriculum — a neurodiversity-affirming, evidence-informed framework based on Self-Determination Theory. This means we don’t just teach “social skills” — we build skills that help each child become the boss of their own life.

Our Boss Skills program supports people to:

  • Identify their strengths and interests
  • Understand and communicate what feels safe and what doesn’t
  • Make choices and decisions with confidence
  • Solve problems and manage big feelings
  • Set goals and take steps towards them
  • Understand boundaries (theirs and others’)
  • Build meaningful relationships in a way that works for them
  • Develop self-awareness and self-advocacy skills

Boss Skills aren’t about “fixing” people — they’re about helping each person feel powerful, capable, and connected.

How Will I or my Loved One Benefit?

Our groups support growth across a range of developmental domains, including:

  • Learning-to-learn skills (e.g., following instructions, attending, waiting)
  • Social and emotional development
  • Functional communication and engagement
  • Fine and gross motor development
  • Coping in group contexts
  • Sensory regulation and support
  • Encouraging transitions and flexibility
  • Building independence and meaningful play
  • School readiness
  • Reducing behaviours of concern through skill-building
  • Life skills for community and home
  • Building friendships — especially with neurodivergent peers
  • Exploring identity, strengths, and unmasking in a safe, affirming space
  • Learning about consent, personal boundaries, and body autonomy

At Bloom, fun, connection, and authenticity are at the core of every session.
